Classic Stove-Top Mashed Potatoes: These mashed potatoes derive their yellowy hue and super creamy texture from Yukon Gold potatoes, perhaps the potato variety most beautifully suited for mashing. They take about 20 minutes
Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes: These mashed potatoes can be made and refrigerated up to two days ahead – or frozen for up to two weeks! Just pull them out of the fridge, pop them in the oven, and you are ready to go! When it comes to the holidays, anything you can tackle ahead of time moves to the top of the proverbial recipe pile, right?
Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes: When your burners and over are otherwise occupied, it’s a relief to be able to prepare a dish for a holiday in the slow cooker – the ultimate set it and forget it option. Potatoes take about 3 1/2 hours in the slow cooker, after which you can keep them on the “warm” setting for about two hours or reheat them the next day.
Also, these potatoes don’t turn brown — a common problem with slow cooker potatoes. The potatoes release and cook in their own liquid, a heave cream keeps things moist.
Pressure Cooker Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Another great set-it-and-forget-it option. Cut the potatoes evenly and they’ll cook quickly – less than 20 minutes all told. Mash everything in the pressure cooker.
